Stijn Yperman
Stijn Yperman, born in Ypres and now living in Antwerp, studied 3-dimensional design at Sint-Lucas Antwerp (1998-2003). His work, consisting of ceramic sculptures and installations, reflects a deep philosophical perspective on life and society.
By merging elements of nature, Yperman invites viewers to explore the beauty of existence, encompassing both its aesthetic qualities and the essence of ‘being.’ However, beneath this beauty lies a darker truth. In nature, the law of the strongest and parasitic relationships dominate; those who look deeper realize that survival is the ultimate goal. This facade of harmony often masks self-interest and compromise. Yperman’s work acts as a powerful mirror for our society, encouraging reflection on the complexities of existence and the underlying realities of our world.
