Elisia Poelman
Born in the Flemish Ardennes (Geraardsbergen,1997)
Elisia Poelman graduated in 2020 from the LUCA School of Arts in Ghent with a Master’s degree in Painting.
She currently lives and works in Ostend. Elisia Poelman’s paintings are deeply influenced by the serene yet powerful presence of nature, reflecting her personal and intuitive experience of the landscapes she observes. Her use of vibrant colours and dynamic compositions offers an emotional lens on the world outside, blending an inner vision with the external environment.
Working on both canvas and panel, Poelman initially explored a variety of materials, including acrylic paint. However, after her residency at the Van Gogh House in the Netherlands (2023), she transitioned primarily to oil paint, embracing its rich textures and more tactile, impasto brushstrokes. Her work balances on the edge between the recognizable and the abstract, often described as ochestrated chaos—just like the formation of the universe itself.
In addition to her exhibitions in Belgium and abroad, Poelman is also involved in various other artistic projects. These include educational initiatives, murals, and collaborations with businesses. In 2024, she partnered with Brussels Airlines, where her paintings were featured on the amenity kits that are distributed worldwide.
